RXN Athletics is your neighborhood cutting-edge, scientifically designed, Sports Performance Training Center. At RXN, we build successful, healthy athletes through the application of sports science and biomechanics to performance training. By applying science to your game, we help you minimize risk of injury and focus on individual movement quality and sport specific athletic endeavors.
Our training philosophy
Our slogan “Applying Science to Your Game” says it all. We approach training from the viewpoint that our methodologies and equipment used are either biomechanically sound or the published research supports it and that it is applicable to not just the sport, but also to the individual athlete. Each athlete deserves a qualified professional that can get them to their goals. At RXN Athletics each athlete is coached to ensure that the training is performed correctly and that safety is maximized. All of our coaches hold degrees in the field and professional certifications.
When an untrained individual first starts a training program they see improvements in speed, strength and coordination fairly quickly (less than 12 weeks). For experienced athletes and trainees it could take much longer (more than 12 weeks). In the case of the untrained individual or athlete often these improvements occur without noticeable changes in body weight or body composition. These improvements are due to the way the nervous system changes in the way it controls the muscular systems used for movements. The movements become more coordinated and efficient.
Post Action Potentiation (PAP)
At RXN Athletics a major tool in our tool box of training methods is the application of contrast training. Contrast training, performing a maximal or near maximal strength movement with a biomechanically similar explosive/ballistic/plyometric movement, enables the trainee to utilize PAP which allows for a more powerful training effect. PAP is simply the improvement of muscular function due to the types of contractions utilized. At RXN Athletics we have found that utilization of PAP enhances athletic power better than resistance training or plyometric training by increasing motor unit recruitment. This increased motor unit recruitment allows for greater explosive movements and power output. This form of training can be used for developing both acute and long term performance improvements.
Biomechanics is simply movement. Utilizing correct movement strategies not only improves athletic performance through stable efficient movement, but also decreases the potential of a non-contact injury occurring. At RXN athletics we assess each of our athletes prior to training for poor movement strategies, core strength, flexibility and balance to identify what the athletes can do to immediately improve their biomechanics and their performance.
